Putting together some stats for Tomorrow's War

EDIT: pictures removed as the stats are getting re-worked.
I've been playing around with some stats for the use of Battletech Mechs with Ambush Alley Games' "Tomorrow's War". These are not finished yet. Some stats are likely to change and will probably need some more balancing. I used the information of the Technical Readouts that I have to see what weight class the Mechs have, what equipment and sensors they carry and then tried to convert this into TW game mechanics.

For those of you who know TW, you might note that I have tried to "group" weapons when they are likely to be fired onto one target at the same time. I also came up with some ideas that are not included in TW (like using the LRM from Battletech as some sort of light artillery for Tomorrow's War, allowing to utilize them as indirect firing support for the grunts.)

I have split weapons into "main guns" and "secondary weapons" to restrict the Mechs in the way of how many can be fired during one activation. It also allows the player to choose from a list of weapons or to fire some in combinations, without overpowering these units. Armor values are taken by converting weight class (Battletech) into armor class (TW).

Where Mechs are weak in armor etc. I have tried to compensate by using "Common Vehicle Attributes" from TW, like "poor and absolete armor" to rate down the armor value for example. Or to increase capabilities the same way by using other rules.

These are first mock-ups. Just to show you where I am trying to go.

I like what you're doing adding Mechs into the game. I'm tempted to think you should have gone for the bigger plastic models that you had originally though.

Battlemechs were the ultimate weapon and should dominate the table when they appear (They are 30m+). That isn't to say that they aren't vulnerable to infantry and vehicles, but they should at least intimidate your opponent.

If you are going for the smaller models, you might want to look at the battlearmour from B-Tech, which might be more what you're trying to achieve and is still formidable to normal infantry and vehicles.

Still that's just my opinion and going the way you are is still going to add some real interesting stuff to the mix. Looking forwards to seeing what comes next.

@Jim: with most weapons being 3D or more they automaticly are intimidating.
I know what you mean about model size. However, there are far less models in 1/100 available as there are in 1/200, 1/144 and "roughly" 1/170 scale. I have now 26 (!!!!) different Mechs in the 3" size being compatiblw with 15mm. That is why I stay with the smaller ones. :-)

I forgot to mention the dangers of B-Mech addiction. Before long 26 will seem like such a small number lol. ;-)

Well and I should mention that 24 out of these 26 are "unseen" mechs which do no longer exist in their original design (My models are about two decades old and I spent close to 150Eur on them). ;-) Another reason to stay with my smaller toys.

Hi Sgt Scream, I noticed you signed up for the Gruntz rules playtest. How are you getting on? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks Robin

I got to admit I signed up because in your blog you mentioned to be able to take orders for N-scale sculpts and forward them to those making them. :-)
